The Laboratory of "GESTIÓN EN TECNOLOGÍAS DE INFORMACIÓN Y COMUNICACIÓN" (GETIC) depends organically Electrical Engineering Department, of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Santiago of Chile.
The Electrical Engineering Department is focused on three areas of research: 1) Control, 2) energy, and 3) Telecommunications. GETIC Laboratory is within the orbit of telecommunications and was created in 2000. Its main function is to research leading for the formation of undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Information Technology and Communications. Also, the generation and development of projects for technology transfer to companies, the training in the specific area and advising of new implementations.
Incidentally, in recent years the emphasis has been put on the Digital Signal Processing for Wireless Communications including Visible Light commutations, prioritizing transmission applications where not only voice, but also data, video and security occupying Mathematical modelling and optimization. The result of work followed in recent years is clearly evident in the production of ten doctors in engineering sciences to the country and collaboration to generate three doctors in England as well as in projects and publications.
